BEFORE YOU START

1. WEIGH AND MEASURE YOURSELF BEFORE YOU BEGIN.




Record your measurements at the beginning of the program and calculate the the difference at the end of the CLEAN 9 program. Keep track of how your body is improving by weighing and measuring yourself on day 1, day 3, day 6 and day 9.


Another very important thing you should do is to work out your Body Mass Index. The Body Mass Index Calculator App has being provided on this site. You can locate or find it on the Right-Side bar (column) of this blog.

2. BE CAREFUL TO SELECT YOUR START UP DAY

Always start the Clean 9 plan when you have a couple of quieter days such as a weekend or 9 days of not going out for meals etc. with friends/family where you won’t be tempted to stray.


If you are feeling stressed at work or busy running around after the kids this will add further pressures to you. 

3. GIVE YOURSELF 3-4 WEAN DAYS BEFORE YOU START


Start to wean yourself off tea, coffee, fizzy drinks, alcohol, and processed foods. Try to eat simple health foods i.e. chicken breast and salads, vegetables etc.

Ladies, don’t start the Clean 9 while on your period. Please wait until you have finished. Your weight loss and measurements won’t be accurate and cravings are at their worst.

4. MOTIVATE YOURSELF & KEEP RECORDS

Research shows that people who record what they eat and how much they exercise lose more weight. Indeed, those that keep a daily planner are two to three times more likely to stick with the Clean 9 program. Ask a friend or relative to do the Clean 9 with you so you can motivate each other.

Write down 3 realistic goals you would like to achieve in the next 9 days. This will make it easier to get amazing results.

Document any extra food you eat, the type of exercise you do each day, how well you sleep and how you feel. Not only will this give you a great overview of your progress, it will also provide a good reference later on as you continue your health and weight management journey.

5. EXERCISE DAILY.



It’s important to not over-exert yourself at the beginning of the program. Start with easy, low-impact exercises and gradually increase activity. Workout as much as possible (You can also workout in the evening if you are not so busy) ensure you add skipping to your workout. Minimum 300 reps.

There are many opportunities to burn extra calories throughout the day. Instead of the lift, take the stairs, or park further away from your destination and walk.

As your body responds to the different phases of CLEAN 9, your weight may fluctuate. 

6. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. 

Ensure you are well hydrated while on the program because it aids weight loss, especially the first two days. Approximately 3 litres of water a day for men and 2 - 2.5 litres a day for women should be a practice. This can help you feel fuller and support healthy skin and optimal health. 

7. MIX YOUR SHAKE WITH WATER.

Mix your shake (Ultra lite with Aminotein) with WATER and not the skimmed milk as written in the manual. 

8. MAINTAIN 600 CALORIES OF MEAL. 

Don't exceed the 600 calories meal, if you are confused, You can always goggle how much calorie you will get from what you want to eat or ask us questions.

9. HAVE ENOUGH REST.

THE FIRST TWO DAYS OF THE CLEAN 9 PROGRAM

DAY 1 & 2 HIGHLIGHTS

DAY 3 - 9 HIGHLIGHTS

1) Time to step it up! 
EXERCISE MORE!

Now that you are consuming more calories, you should feel more energized and ready to take on more physical activity. During this part of Clean 9 Program, your focus should be on calorie-burning aerobic exercises like the examples below. 

Studies show that aerobic activities like running or dancing burn more calories than other forms of exercise. As you have more energy, increase the duration and intensity of low-medium impact exercise for greater results! 

This is the period to switch from Low to medium Impact Exercises like brisk walking, strength training, swimming, water aerobics, yoga, treadmill, step aerobics, hiking, rock climbing, dancing, rollerblading, treadmill, elliptical, machine cycling. 

Be sure to take five minutes to warm up and two minutes to stretch before your 30 minutes of exercise. Preparing your body and muscles ensures that you get the most out of your workout and have a faster recovery.


2) Food Intake
MAINTAIN 600 CALORIES

NOTE: Maximum of 600 calories for Your Dinner daily

The perfect 600 calorie food (if you can't do fruits strictly) as far as I am concerned is 2 pieces of small or 1 piece of big croakier fish in pepper soup with 2 to 4 small balls of Irish potato. It worked wonders for me as the pepper soup water is filling too. 

As a rule of thumb, to get 600 calories, you'll need to STAY OFF most CARBOHYDRATES BECAUSE THEY ADD SIGNIFICANTLY TO YOUR CALORIES. 
  • And if you must at all, please do rice and wheat amala, (in DIET Quantities).
  • Use little or no palm oil, your best option at this point is olive oil. 
  • Foods you can eat regularly include: Irish and sweet potato in fish (preferably croakier, Kote) pepper soup, proteins, Vegetables.
  • A lot of low fat fish (boiled or roasted). Roasted/boiled plantain is great too, Pap and moi-moi with honey is also good for you).
  • As for the meal Replacement shake which requires you to use Skimmed milk or Soya milk, I would advise that you use Water instead and drink lots of water. 
  • Fruits and vegetables to eat regularly include pawpaw, watermelon, cucumber, carrots and lemon.
  • Stay off bananas and apples and pineapple, they are higher in calories than other fruits.

  • 1 Cup of cooked rice is 204kcal
  • 1 Moi-moi because of oil and pepper n curry in it is 256kcal
  • 1 Slice fried plantain is 68kcal
  • 1 Boiled corn is 123kcal
  • 1 Eko-pap is 91kcal
  • Sweet potato medium is 105kcal
  • Irish potato medium is 161kcal
  • Snail is 90kcal
  • Ewedu is 97kcal
  • Okra soup is 105kcal
  • 1 Cup wheatmeal flour is 455kcal
  • 1 Medium size slice yam is 330kcal
  • 1 Serving size croakerfish is 101-150kcal
  • 1 Cup of beans is 199kcal
  • 1 Ounce of goat meat is 31kcal and 3 oz is 120kcal
  • 1 Plate of porridge with the oil, pepper and prawn is 550kcal
  • 1 Full cup/scoop of Ugwu vegetable-pumpkin is 25kcal
  • Tomato is 20kcal
  • Canned sweetcorn is 60kcal

NOTE:
Please use this as a guide and ensure you find the time to do your regular 20 minutes workout.
